Joe Pignato plays Yamaha and Roland electronic drums and triggers, Macbook Pro, and sound samples, loops and effects of his own design. Dr. Pignato, currently Assistant Professor at the State University of New York, Oneonta, is a composer, musician, and improviser. His compositions have been premiered, presented, or exhibited throughout the United States, in Canada, and the Netherlands. Additionally, Dr. Pignato has given performances, paper presentations, lectures, and clinics in the United States, Canada, and Australia and has been published in Notations21 (2009, Mark Batty Publishers) and Tanglewood II, (in press, GIA Press). Pignato holds degrees from Boston University (DMA), where he was a Tanglewood Scholar, New York University (MA), where he studied composition with Dinu Ghezzo, and the University of Massachusetts (BA), where he studied composition with Yusef Lateef. Dr. Pignato studied drum-set with Sal La Rocca and Max Roach. |
